Manifesto

We make nothing in series. We choose pieces that have known the mountains, the upright loom and patient hands, then we bring them all the way to you. Only two rugs, because each one deserves the time it takes to tell its story.

The collection

Two chapters

Beni Ourain rug in a bright living room

Chapter I

Beni Ourain

The white wool of the Middle Atlas

A thick rug of pure, undyed sheep's wool, crossed by fine charcoal diamond lines. Soft underfoot, warm and utterly restrained, it calms a room as much as it dresses it.

Chapter II

Boucherouite

The memory of fabric

Woven from strips of reclaimed fabric (cotton, wool, yesterday's clothes), this rug plays on a deep brown ground shot through with flashes of cobalt, red and ivory. A free, vibrant, entirely improvised piece.

Craft

From fleece to rug

Six gestures, handed down from mother to daughter, separate raw wool from the rug laid in your home.

Shearing01

Shearing

In spring, the wool of the high-plateau sheep is shorn by hand. Thick and rich in lanolin, it has been shaped by the Atlas winter.

Washing & carding02

Washing & carding

The fleece is washed in clear water, dried in the sun, then combed with wooden cards until it becomes a cloud of fibres.

Spinning03

Spinning

With a drop spindle, the weaver draws and twists the wool into an even yarn. That yarn gives the rug its body and softness.

Colours & fabrics04

Colours & fabrics

For the Beni Ourain, the wool keeps its natural colour. For the Boucherouite, old textiles are cut into strips and sorted by colour.

Knotting05

Knotting

On an upright loom, every knot is tied by hand, row after row. The pattern is born from memory, never drawn beforehand.

Finishing06

Finishing

The rug is clipped to height, combed, its fringes knotted. It is washed one last time and dried flat.

Come closer

Every knot is a gesture.

A Beni Ourain holds tens of thousands of knots. No two are quite alike, and that is precisely what makes it feel alive.

One rug, one weaver.

The hands of the Atlas

One rug, one weaver.

Our rugs are the work of Amazigh women of the Middle Atlas, who weave at home, at their own pace, as their mothers did before them. Every piece carries the invisible signature of the woman who knotted it.

Behind every rug there is a first name, a village, a season of work. That is the story we want to travel with it.
